Mr. Kevin Youkilis
In every era there are a few people that are larger than life. There are a few people that set a defining mark on society and the generation. There is no doubt in mymind that you are one of those people as a member of the Boston Red Sox. You have shown time and time again over the last couple seasons that you belong in the MLB. Not only do you belong in the league, but you belong in an elite class that includes the great young players that are making impacts in the league as we speak right now. Being a busy professional athlete in the middle of an intense playoff battle decreases the odds that you will ever read this note, but I am still compelled to send some words of praise your way. My hopes are that some portion of this note will be relayed to you in one way or another.
Your influence on the game goes beyond an towering home runs, hits, and being a great first baseman. I believe credit should be given where credit is due, and there no doubt you deserve all the credit in the world for what you have accomplished up to
this point in your distinguished career as you have created a buzz with your youthful exuberance. Any Red Sox fan knows your story, and you must be commended for your patience in getting to the big leagues. You were finally given an everyday job at the highest level with the league best team, and you have responded with some outstanding numbers. I am positive beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I have been witness to one of the better players currently in the league. You have numbers comparable to the best in the game. It is not only memorable to watch you play on the field, but it is historical in terms of what we are seeing. You are setting yourself apart from all the other players in the league. This era is being defined by your play along with the play of your teammates. You have shown courage on and off the field. You are a true inspiration to all those that come in contact with you. You are so young, and have so much talent to get even better.
There are few players like you in the world. When your name is spoken, people think of success. You have been the dominant figure in the league since the day you entered. There are few that have been able to "rise" to the occasion in the way you are doing. You are such a great athlete, and watching you play day in and day out is such a privilege. Your life is full of accomplishments. I am sure you are more than aware of everything I have said, and everything I will mention, but I hope you don't mind me telling you why I am fond of you and your career. I know I am not the only one. You have legions of fans all over the world. You are a special athlete, and people truly love to see you succeed. People have found hope in seeing you succeed. You are cementing your place in baseball lore. The support you have from fans from all over the world is only a small testament to what you mean to the game. You are adored by Red Sox Nation, and it must be a pleasure to be part of such a great organization.
Baseball is a sport unlike any other in the world. You can obviously attest to this better than most people as you are playing professionally. It is a sport that requires physical and mental toughness, physical and mental stamina, technique, and touch. The list can go on and on of the needed talents to excel. The amazing thing about the list is the fact that your name can be associated with every trait needed to be a great player. It is even more special to see that you excelling in a tough city like Boston. I think it is obvious the team has found their first basemen that will be there for years to come.
Obviously you are changing the game. Your ability to play the game of baseball is unique. Only a handful of players can be mentioned in the same breath as you when talking about ability. The game of baseball is a game that is continually improving. We see guys that are bigger, faster, stronger, and younger every year. The level of play in the MLB, requires certain talents that only a handful of people posses. You have
every single needed talent to be great. You excel because you are big, strong, fast and smart and because you have a lot of heart and tons of guts. I
Since your entry into baseball, I have been able to follow your career very closely. I appreciate your play and I appreciate you. I have always been a fan. I have always respected you and your ability on and off the field. You are a leader and play maker
at the plate and in the field. You have some great teammates and you all a perfect fit for the team. I am sure you will continue to play a major role in determining the outcome of every game for the Red Sox for a long time to come. You are a special player, and special players have a way of finding ways to succeed. As the season comes down to the finish, I am confident that you guys will give it your all to the very end. You guys have been down in a series before, and I know there is no panic. Good luck. We are all pulling for you and I hope you guys know that we appreciate your efforts during what has been a long and grueling season.
Many are called and few are chosen. You have been chosen and you have been great. I mentioned you are revolutionizing the game. The fact of the matter remains, You transcend the sport. There are few people that are truly "larger than life". You are an ambassador of the game for this reason. You are currently one of the best. You are a player and a person that draws in new fans year after year. I hope you are proud of what you have done, and I hope you realize how important you have been for the game itself. I hope you love what you do. When someone finds a job or profession that they love, they are truly blessed in life. Seeing your passion for the game, I am fairly certain that you love your job.
You are a special individual not just because of your play. Putting all the on-the-field accomplishments aside, I have also read that you are great off the field. I have read about, and seen some of the news of your contributions to society, and to the community. It is great and refreshing to see someone with so much, be so willing to give back. It is obvious you have a "big heart". You have distinguished yourself as one of those global sports luminaries who can generate headlines and endorsement deals and charitable contributions, positively affecting lives of many. Wealth, notoriety came early for you, and this is because of your play on the field. With the money and fame you have earned enduring respect, admiration and affection that you will never lose.
Mr. Youkilis, I want to wish you continued success. You are the one of the few people in the league that can actually turn the tides of a game by yourself. I honestly cannot believe the things that you are able to do on the field. I have loved being able to watch you play. Having you be a part of the Red Sox organization is great. I love all the things that you bring to the table. You are truly a great player in every sense of the word. You have talent as a hitter and as a fielder. You are changing the expectations of all first baseman.
Good luck always. You are successful for a reason. Tall tales that are true will be told for a long time because of the legacy that you are leaving. It is truly impressive. Once again, good luck as the season finishes up. It is not over yet, and you guys know what you can do.
Mr. Youkilis as a fan it would mean more than anything to me personally to have something signed by yourself. I understand as one of the most popular athletes in the league, it is a stretch to ever think you will read this note, and even less of a stretch to ever think that I would receive something from you personally. Yes, it would mean something to me in ways you would not probably understand, but even more than the autograph, I hope that you know that people are drawn to you for a
reason. That is why you are so special. Notes like mine are a dime a dozen, while players and people like you are one in a million.
Beat Cleveland. Go Sox.
